So first off, a fellow member of our group was bothered with the fact that some of the artwork in our Romantic Art and Fanservice folder was not filtered/did not have a mature tag, etc. etc.

I went through the folder and noticed some of the slightly mature works didn't have mature tags, so for future submitters, please do your groupies a favor and make sure you tag the works that seem to be mature or possibly sensitive to other viewers!

Onto the rules.

We get more and more people submitting join requests and submissions without either posting the secret phrase or that the fact that they break our rules.

We need more ideas. Perhaps a really long banner?

I don't think people are listening.
I'm still seeing stuff in my inbox that needs mature tags.

I do not know the secret phrase; I joined ages ago. Should I be concerned?

No, no. I think it's okay considering you very likely joined before the secret phrase was posted.

However, it would be great if you could read them sometime! :D

I think this is quite a radical mesure, but:

The tumblr Theme-Makers did a blackout a few days ago, becuase they were tired of people not reading the faq asking the same questions over and over again, being treated rudely and getting their work stolen. So for three days they were adversiting it to get the message through.

I think you can get something like that?? Like shutting off submissions and join requests for some time as some kind of campaing to get people understand for once, the rules MUST be followed.

Again, I personally believe it's a harsh way to get people read the rules before joining, but the theme-makers were able to at least put all the rude and mean treatment they were given in evidence, so I guess it's worth the risk, kind of????

About the mature tag, well. That's actually beyond us as simple users of Deviantart, so the best we can do is asking to please tag it correctly, and you're ignored report the work for un-censored mature content.

I'm just suggesting, but as soon as I can come up with something less blunt, that's the best measure I can come up with :T

I think you've done pretty much everything you can in terms of join requests.
In terms of Romantic and Fanservice thing, maybe you could just refuse submissions that don't have a filter on them, and then maybe in a FAQ you could have "why wasn't my submission accepted" you could put "did it have a mature filter on it" and eventually people would get the idea, I think. Assuming you don't do that already.

Well as far as the reading the rules go and using the secret phrase go. I think at this point the group as done about everything it can to motivate peopel to do what they should on their own. I don't think it should have to be the groups jobs to bend over backwards to help frankily lazy people. At this point I say if the they don't read the rules and use the secret phrase when trying to join. Their request to join should be denied. If you want to you can tell them why they were denied. Then let them try again. I figure this should be really effective because after a while if enough people are denied for the same reason, they should start telling other people interested in the group about what they'll need to do to join. One of which will be reading the rules. I think after a while you may have to get rid of the secret phrase to make sure people aren't cheating and asking members what the secret phrase is so they can join without having to read the rules. Well that's just my two cents on this.
