So, this isn't necessarily the actual rule journal, as those can be seen on the front page, but lots of people are submitting join requests without bothering to read the rules.

Really? We've made the text on the custom box with the rules saying that there's a hidden phrase like a HEADING font, and people STILL are submitting join requests without noticing there are rules, even when the font is huge.

So, I want to ask you members, what do you think we should do to catch people's attention so they actually read the rules before submitting join requests? :)

Feel free to comment!!

Is it possible to somehow write it in hemospectrum smears? Because that's always attention grabbing. Or animated.

Spell it out with sparkledogs, there's plenty to go around. V :B

Nothing. Just don't let them in until they read the rules.

I agree with not letting people in until they get it right.
I mean, they should at least bother to read the entire thing...after all, how long does reading it take?

As long as you aren't writing the rules in white font or hiding them in some link to another page, it's really their own fault for not reading the rules.

Allllso...
It said references weren't accepted- would it be considered a reference or actual Homestuck art if I submitted the symbols as charms (Like, I made the Beta kids' shirt signs into necklaces)?

Your charms would/should count as original artwork.

I read the rules, but I don't remember them saying anything about crossovers... Are they allowed?

I think that's kinda inevitable Uu I send the request AND THEN I read the rules, so I guess it exist that possibility. Anyway, the new look of the Info Box is really flamboyant :0 Though too much can cause the contrary effect, so take that on count!

I kinda did the same... ^^;
And now I'm not sure if I'm technically a member or not, since there's no option to ask to join now... I'm watching the group, but I have no idea how to check if I just watched or if I was accepted...

require that people who submit to the group have to copy and paste a certain phrase, and nothing more. Should they not do that, reject their application for joining until they get it right.

can you insert a response when denying people? if so them post the following...

1. tell them "read the rules"
2. not only that but LINK them to the rules
3. i'd also link them to one of the journal posts that deliberately states "hey, there's a secret word you need to know to join now, it's hidden in the rules"
4. you could even post another link to that meme saying "y u no read rules"
5. you could probably do an andrew hussie image and meme it to encourage kids to check out the rules

this sounds like a bit of work but i'd put it in a microsoft word document and just paste it in for all the requests you can't accept... the kids can't get mad because you've both informed them AND entertained them by serving them what they need to know and what they need to do on a silver platter... while you have hundreds of requests to manage they are only focused on a few (or maybe just this one) so they will find time to follow these links and send in a proper request
